Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Gets Official English Release Date

Ahead of Jujutsu Kaisen’s highly anticipated second season, Crunchyroll has officially announced that it will be simulcasting the show in English. This news comes at the perfect time, with anticipation and hype about the popular MAPPA anime at its peak, and based on the arcs Season 2 will be adapting, it isn’t hard to see why.

In a press release, Crunchyroll revealed that the streaming service will be simulcasting the second season of Jujutsu Kaisen beginning on July 6, 2023, aligning perfectly with the anime’s release in Japan. Crunchyroll will also be the exclusive streaming platform for Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2’s sub and dub, with new episodes of the show streaming each week after they air in Japan. The streaming service will be simulcasting the second season of Jujutsu Kaisen for both of its two consecutive cours, which will cover the Hidden Inventory/Premature Death arc in its first part and then likely the Shibuya Incident Arc in its latter part.

These arcs are widely considered by many Jujutsu Kaisen fans to be the best in the series. Gojo has always been a mysterious character, but the Hidden Inventory/Premature Death arc will delve more into his past as well as that of the series’ major villain Suguru Geto. The synopsis for the season reveals that Gojo and Geto will be tasked with protecting a young girl Amanai Riko, who is chosen to merge with the immortal Tengen. However, many assassins are attempting to kill her, including the fan-favorite character Fushiguro. And continuing the greatness of the first arc, the following Shibuya Incident arc is generally considered to be even better.

Based on the source material it is adapting, Jujutsu Kaisen’s second season may be even better than its superb first season. There has been a shift in directors since the first season, with Shota Goshozono now taking the reins from Sunghoo Park, but from the trailers that have been released so far, the action and visuals still seem as stunning as ever. Thus the show will likely still feature the epic fights that made the first season so popular. Some of the fights in the manga version of this arc have the potential to easily top the ones that have come before them, and the fights in the Shibuya Incident Arc will be even better.
